Classroom Reveal 2015-2016

Classroom Reveal
2015-2016

Please note that I received many of my items from Math Equals Love blog (I love it so much!)  At this link: http://mathequalslove.blogspot.com/

I have posted my Problem Solving Steps (all 7th grade math classes teach it the same at our school).  It is on the focus wall, so the students will see it every day.  My classroom consequences and the Group Work Roles are posted on my closet.  The colors represent the seat color the students sit in.

My classroom norms are above the wall to my students' left.  I also have the vocabulary, exit ticket, bell ringers, makeup work, and objectives all posted on this wall.  I found it to be easier than having kids look in multiple areas around the classroom.  This also eliminates students' excuses for not knowing where to look for makeup work.

This is a picture of my focus wall (along with my favorite helper).  You can see the strategies, guidelines, and calendar.  My SMART board is used almost every day and I love it!

This is the view from my door.  You can see our school colors in the tiles :)  Also, the student work table is immediately forward and not in the way.

This is a picture of my filing cabinet and my table to tutor 1-on-1.  I posted pictures of my kids and fellow teachers to give it some life.  The chevrons are from target and happens to be wrapping paper :)

Last year I had the document camera all over the classroom.  Due to the drop for the connection, I'm limited on where it can go.  This year I decided to use my cart to make it more flexible around the classroom.  I also have a weekly sheet for my lesson plans and responsibilities.

My expectations when we are doing Math Stations is posted right above the student work table.

Here is a view from my door again.  You can see that my "section" is off to the side and not obstructing the students' movements in the classroom.  This also eliminates the possibility of students getting into my things.

Here is another picture of my calendar.

I have PEMDAS and information of the Order of Operations right next to the door and to the right of the objectives of the day.

I have a teacher work desk at the front since my cart and document camera do not reach.  I have a bucket for "Random Sample" with numbers.  I draw one and whomever is sitting in that chair answers a question or assists another student, etc.  I also have a bucket for "Finished Early" for those who finish their work and need another task.

Here's the view of the inside of my door.  I have the bell schedule and the message to inspire my kids.

My Guidelines (such a better word than Rules) are:
1. Be prepared and in your seat when the bell rings.
2. Follow directions immediately the first time they are given.
3. Use polite, respectful, and appropriate language.
4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
5. Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.

I teach 7th Grade Math and 8th Grade Debate.  I have two sections for everything, plus I have a quote of the week for my debate kids.

Here is another view from my door, just with my tiny barstool.

For each reporting category, I have created a snapshot of the TEKS.  I have also put a Math Workstations section.  The students will see their number and when it is time, move to the appropriate group during workstations day.

I have two boxes, one for turning in work and one for returned work.  I also have white copy paper, notebook paper, and big index cards available to my students.

Another view from my desk.

I have three bookshelves for my classes.  One shelf for textbooks and the second for Interactive Notebooks & binders.
